I was delighted to spot this image of Mario and Anne Grauso's living room over at Habitually Chic today because it incorporates the colors in my recent French inspired "Palette en Couleur"...the rich chocolate browns, the chic black, the golden yellows, the charcoal grey...it's there! Heather is right, it's a perfect Parisian space -wouldn't you agree?

Inspiring Designers: Katie Fine
When I first saw this home featured in the November 2007 issue of Glamour magazine I instantly fell in love with the way the designer Katie Fine created a beautiful space that was clean, sophisticated, and young. After I was done admiring, I tagged the pages and stashed away the magazine deciding it would serve as inspiration when it came time to design the interiors of my first home. Late last year though when it came that time, I looked for my copy of the magazine and was sorely disappointed that it was nowhere to be found -it must have gotten lost during our move. I hunted the internet for images hoping someone had scanned in the pages. No luck though...until recently!
I was so excited to find that earlier this year Katie launched her website and posted photographs of her work, including Emmy Rossum's home! Upon rediscovering the images, I realized that they had remained a source of inspiration despite me not having them available as a reference. I do believe it was Katie's design that influenced my decision to decide on a grey sofa, my most expensive decorating purchase to date.
Her designs may likely influence future purchases as well. When it comes time to buy a new bed it might just be one similar to this one:
Oh, and if I ever own a home with a backyard, one like this would be nice:
With cool hanging seating course..
Hope you enjoyed this as much as I did!Wednesday, June 17, 2009
Black and White Throw Pillows
With Chanel and the Paris episodes of Sex and the City as inspiration sources I've been incorporating a lot of black and white into my home decor. One of the ways I'm doing that is by making-over my sofa with new throw pillows (pictures of the final product later!). I've come across several great b&w ones so far. Below are my finds:

Deborah Lloyd's Home

Upon seeing it in a previous issue of Harpers Baazar I instantly fell in love with Deborah Lloyd’s home. Deborah is creative director of Kate Spade and is one of those ultra-chic women whose style I thoroughly admire. Check out her fabulous living room below.
I'm a big fan of using black and white with punches of bright colors, like the hot pink she used in this room. She carried through these colors into the bedroom.
Everything works beautifully: the warm wall color, the floor length curtains, the black and white frames, the crisp white bedding, and the stand-out pink touches. Finally, check out the shot of her inside her closet –love all that color!

Kerry Washington's Apartment
~
Have you checked out Kerry Washington's fabulous apartment featured in this month's O Magazine yet? I love, love, love it because first of all the designer Danny Seo used green materials, products, etc. so it's planet friendly; secondly the prints and colors used are so vibrant and uplifting; and thirdly it has such a cozy feel to it! Who wouldn't want to live there?

Doesn't that blue wall color remind you of Carrie's apartment in the Sex and the City movie?
