National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month

Have y'all visited with Ashley at I'm Just Too Jazzed To Sleep? Well, if you have then you know she is young and gorgeous and she is battling ovarian cancer.

Oh gosh, I was just reminded that Ceekay at Thinkin' of Home also has Ovarian Cancer. I'm sorry that slipped my mind! Ceekay is also going through chemo right now and needs to be remembered!

The month of September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month. Now girls, this effects all of us! Take a minute to go to one of the many websites and read the signs and symptoms. Here's one I looked at ovariancancerawareness.org

So many of our blogging friends are fighting scary health concerns. We think of you all the time!

Just Remembering Last Fall

It's so cool here that it's definitely making us happy that Fall is on it's way. I've just been reminiscing a little.

Pretty Mums.

Tailgating.

Celebration!

One year ago on August 28, 2008, after lurking around many of you for awhile, I wrote my first blog post. You can read it here.

It's so interesting to look back at that post. Nobody commented and that was ok. For a long time I was embarassed to tell people I had a blog. Sometimes I still am embarassed because it seems like such a frivolous way to spend time.

But in this past year I have said, "I love my blog!" so many times. It's really not just the actual blog itself but the connections I've made communicating with you. You are the nicest group of people. It's just so cool that we can connect in this way and discuss things that we have in common! You all inspire me to cook, decorate, plant, pray, learn, and be a friend. Those are good things!

I want to tell who I met first in blogland...though she didn't know me. I first found BJ at Rate My Space. I loved her decorating style and how friendly she was. Now I can't remember exactly how I found out about her blog. Seems like it was mentioned somewhere on RMS. When I visited for the first time and was just stunned by the world that opened up there. BJ, I used to sign my name Stacey in Oklahoma before I had my own blog. :)

Anyway, I just want to say THANK YOU to BJ and all of you from the bottom of my heart. You have coffee with me every morning and I just enjoy it so much! If you are ever coming through town I would love for you to stop and have a chat!

To celebrate this anniversary we will have a give away...be on the lookout...I haven't been shopping yet!

It's Here!

So the day has arrived -today is officially my last day at my full-time career job. No more long workdays involving leaving my house before sunrise and returning back when it it's already dark out because I had to finish writing a report at the office, and no more hour plus long daily commutes down the infamous 405 LA freeway.
However, I’m sad I will no longer have the weekly Century City farmer’s market to look forward to–the place for delicious Hawaiian BBQ Chicken, yummy fresh fruit and veggies, and beautiful flowers (this week’s flowers shown above!). Above all, I am sad I won’t get to see and interact with daily the awesome people I worked with. I have them to thank for making me laugh and smile every [work]day.

Ah change…it’s a little scary I’ll admit. I've had this job since I graduated college and it has provided a lot of stability. I’m stepping into an area of risk and uncertainty, but I’m up for the challenge and I’m excited for the independence and creative freedom that I hope to experience as a small business owner.

Designer Spotlight: Matthew Williamson

I am a huge fan of bold color and feminine details so when I saw this room, I was immediately drawn. What particularly caught my eye was the alluring french-style sofa upholstered in pink and... that rug...

...that vibrant graphic rug was designed by British fashion designer Matthew Williamson for The Rug Company. This guy definitely has a way of designing stand-out pieces. Below are a few of my favorite fashion pages featuring his designs --colorful and beautifully feminine...

Kate Spade's 5th Avenue Shop

Happy Friday! This weekend I'm off to my hometown to visit my family. I'll leave you with shots of the fabulously redesigned 5th Avenue Kate Spade Shop. I absolutely love the use of bold color here...especially in the form of rainbow stripes on the walls and floors!

Hope you have a great weekend!!
