Mysteries Abound

Mysterious Monday.

I like the alliteration.

We used to have 6 of these bowls.  Now there are 4.  I broke one.

No one will confess about the other.

Do these things happen at your house?

I hope you all have a very Happy Monday.

I'm working in my classroom today.

It's Rooster Party Time Again!

The rooster loving tradition continues!

I have to tell you....when I was in middle school, my friend's mom had a collection of roosters.

At the time I thought that was so bizaare. Hmmmm....times change. :)

Today I'm just showing a few new ones that have joined the flock.

This pretty white rooster was a gift from my sweet friend Cynthia.

He's really a pitcher but he came outside for better picture taking today.

You know I love my cup towels!

Couldn't pass this one up.

Would you like a Diet Coke while you are here?

We have beautiful napkins to go along with your drink.

Curse my picture taking skills!

Turn your head sideways please.  Can you see that pretty rooster?  He's on the side of a beautiful photo album sent to me by Dawn at Cottage State of Mind.
She also sent a really neat rooster trivet.

Did you know that awhile back Dawn held a give away on her blog.
The girl is so sweet that she sent a gift to everyone who entered! Wow, I still can't get over that.

Thank you Dawn!

Thank you also to Barb at Barb's Bella Vista for gathering all of us together to flaunt some roosters again today.

Peeking Under the Glass

Happy Friday Girls!
Today I'm joining Marty for her Summer Cloche Party.

What do you have under your cloche?

Pretty birdnests?

A few red apples?

Maybe the perfect plant?

Can't wait to see what you do!

I know you will inspire me.  You always do.

Seeing Red

Pure Excitement

describes how I'm feeling about this red transformation!

Above you see the before shot. Now I could tell you these are vintage chairs. However, they are only two years old! That's what the Oklahoma weather has done for our chairs. With company coming they had to be jazzed up.

This is the after! Aren't they cute?

Come sit with me and have some iced tea. We even have a quilt if we need it later.

There are already several coats of Regal Red paint on here but I can see that we need more. Tomorrow is another day. :)

And The Shabby Chic Cottage for Transformation Thursday.

Thank you for coming by. I sure enjoy our visits.

Show Off Your Bedroom Party

Blogging is alot like peeking in windows for those of us who love to decorate.
Today I'm inviting you to peek into my bedroom window. I'm joining in with Debra at The Bungalow for a fun party featuring bedrooms.

Remember last week when I was coveting the set at Pottery Barn? Well thanks to your encouragement and a little extra tutoring money, I just went right ahead and ordered it!

Let me show you how this came together.

I purchased the comforter, shams, and toss pillow. The toss pillow is really a cranberry red that is the same color in the flowers. It looks wrong in the picture today. The comforter is folded at the bottom of my matelasse bedspread. I am in love with these colors!

I needed different curtains, of some sort, and wasn't sure what to get. Decided to get simple summery sheers that tie at the top. I already had the print that is above the bed hiding in a closet. The plates on the wall belonged to Mama Rose.

Aren't the colors fresh and summery?

The view out to the woods. I love it when the window is open and the sheers blow gently.

My favorite bird nest and a sweet little picture of Spencer when he played Tball.

I'm calling this my summer set and in the fall we'll bring the red toile back out. I'm so thrilled with how this all came together and I thank you for encouraging me to go for it!

A Serious Case of "I Want"

Just can't help myself. Sometimes I think Pottery Barn can read my mind.

If I think about it long enough, I may justify this purchase.
We do have company coming for graduation!

Chick Chick Here

Changing of the guard on the kitchen table.
These little chicks made their way home with me today.
Aren't they cute?

Where Cheryl Creates

I want y'all to meet one of my BFFs, Cheryl. Truly she's one of the sweetest people you could ever want to know. I want you to see the darling craft room she has just created for herself.

Cheryl is the girl who paints, does paper crafts, sews, takes pictures, scrapbooks, creates the most darling gifts all perfectly wrapped, you name it!

The creative type person we all wish we were...you know. :)

Anyway, they've just created a media room in their house and that left them with a space that she claimed for her own. In this room she took all kinds of items from around the house and transformed them to make the most adorable craft room.

She painted polka dots on containers, put ribbons on cans, hung a hat on the wall and a boa on the curtains!

Doesn't it look fun?

Oh I didn't tell you that she's like me and has two boys.
She needed a girly space to enjoy.
Don't you love it?

One day I'm going to sit in her room and color something!

Help a Girl Out Please

Calling all my brilliant decorating friends. I have been stuck on my dining room for a month now and I really need help. I have taken several pictures so you can get the overall view. Please tell me what you think I need to do. Nothing you see in the dining room is set in stone except the furniture. All accessories are just there because I've been playing and moving things around.

The picture above is the living room that you see when you walk in the front door. It will not change I just wanted you to get the idea. The area is all open. See the accessories sitting on the floor? Well, I've had stuff sitting around here dangerously for awhile now.

This chest is in the front area which is adjacent to the dining room.

The dining room has been painted Echelon Ecru by Sherwin Williams. Most of the house is this color and I love it. It's a creamy color with a hint of yellow. It's really pretty on a bright day. I'm so happy that the red is gone. I was really tired of the darkness that it brought.

I bought this console table a few weeks ago. It's the first table that I've ever found that wasn't too deep for the space. We don't want the room to feel crowded because we actually eat in here pretty often with friends.

The other side of the room. I have played with the idea of drapes but today I'm thinking not. I like the clean lines of the shutters without drapes.

Remember, all accessories are subject to change so you won't hurt my feelings.

Here are my questions and thoughts:

1. Should I leave the girl print on the wall and reframe her? The frame is too small, I think. I still have that huge round mirror that used to hang there. You can see pictures of it here.
2. Should I get rid of the toile on the chairs? If I do I have no idea what to put there.
3. What do you think should be on the walls? You know I have red and white, and green and white transferware on the walls in other rooms.
4. I have to keep the rug for now. I do still love it.

Usually when I redo a room, I start with fabric for inspiration. This time it was a wall color change that prompted my dilemna. I'm confused!!

I'm So Glad

So glad I didn't hesitate, that is!

Last week, Debra at Bungalow posted this gorgeous tole tray for sale on her blog. Now usually I'm the kind of girl who has to ponder things but this time I jumped on it. The tray is gorgeous and absolutely perfect for my kitchen corner. Thank you Debra!

I'm also trying my best to be glad for more snow. It's coming down again. :)

This morning I started tutoring at my old school. It will be an hour or two per day for the next two months. It's always fun to go back and be with the kids and teachers. Have I ever told you how much I love school?

Saying Goodbye

...to Bottacelli Red in my dining room! I have loved this color for 9 years. That's enough. :)

I'm excited! I'm not exactly sure what I'm doing in this room. It will definitely be lighter and brighter. I think chair rail and more molding is in order when my Dad can get here to help me. Kind of thinking about changing the red toile but that's a big decision. Any input?

Silver Sunday

A little shiny silver to share with you in this New Year. This silver piece is part of a huge coffee and tea service that was given to me by my sweet Aunt Doris.

It is beautiful!

She loved to have company and serve others. She told me that she used her silver service when the garden club came to her home. I'd love to have you all over for coffee or tea...once the snow melts, of course. :)

Be sure to visit Beth at Gypsy Fish for a list of other Silver Sunday participants.

Poofing a Corner

Happy Monday! Today I want to show you a little poofing that I've been up to. The vignette below just came together by accident in the last few days and there's a story with it.

Awhile back The Nester did the post about looking around for bare spots that need to be beautified...stay with me here...I have thought about that post several times.

Then last week I was Christmas shopping at this adorable shop here in Edmond called Sterling's. I bought that clock that you see there on the wall for someone else. Yes it's true...I know you do it too. I decided it had to hang on that bare spot above my table. Perfect!

See the cute red reproduction bucket? I don't know what it's called but I saw it the same day and it was part of a set of 3. The set was $99.00 and I had no use for all of them. I kept thinking about the red one though...so I called the man and asked to buy just the red one. He said yes! $25.00. Woo hoo! I'm so proud because I never ask questions like that.

Right now there's a fabulous fake plant in the red bucket but I'm picturing geraniums or a fern when the weather is nicer.

I'm happy with this spot now and it's the perfect view when looking into the living room from the kitchen.

Thank you for coming by and leaving your sweet comments. :)

Details, The Nester, & Happiness

Have you been following The Nester's 31 Days to a Better Dressed Nest?

Well I have. Some days I think this girl is just brilliant!
This post that she did reminded us to fill in blank spaces and pay attention to details.

Went to Hobby Lobby and found that pretty scrolly thing up on top for $14.99.

My wall feels complete now.

Thank you Nester for making me remember to fill in the spaces and pay attention to details.
