Have You Met Roxanne?

Roxanne's blog is one of the most creative and fun places I've discovered lately.
She is a very talented painter. Roxanne shares her love for painting, life, and family with others.

Visiting her blog is uplifting and makes me smile every time. :)

Can you imagine the talent?

I just love how she captures the simple and important things in life.

Please stop by her blog and say a big ol' Texas HI!

You'll be so glad you did.

(Confession: I totally stole these pictures from her blog without permission.
Only out of utmost admiration.
Please don't sue me Roxanne!)

The Secret of Life

Strapped on my walking shoes and hubby's Ipod the other morning. Reminded me that some of life's most profound thoughts can come from a little time with James Taylor. Enjoy!

Friday Blessings

Met the nicest lady named Diane the other day at the Edmond Farmer's Market.

She's living a gardener's dream.
She grows all these pretty flowers and sells them in vintage and reclaimed containers.

Aren't they wonderful?

I just love them.

We'll Remember Always - Graduation Day

For Woo Hoo Wednesday this week I just couldn't pass up the chance to share a little of Tanner's graduation with you. At my request, we took a picture of the four of us before leaving.

Do you kow how hard it is to get three men to take a picture?

The graduating class of Edmond North High School.
There were about 530 graduates!

These brothers love each other.

Great friends since 3rd grade.

Loving his graduation presents.

We had a big family gathering for most of the weekend.
The food was great and the company was even better.

For all of you who advised me to take Kleenex, you were so right! Graduation wasn't as bad as the Senior Recital on Sunday. Let me just say it was embarassing.

We are so proud of our sons!

Be sure to visit the other Woo Hoo Wednesday participants hosted by Marla at Always Nesting. You don't want to miss this party.

There are cupcakes!

Woo Hoo Wednesday!

Hi girls! Today is the very first Woo Hoo Wednesday hosted by Marla at Always Nesting.
I haven't been the best blogger lately. I'm a woman on a mission with a very long to do list. You know, my youngest son graduates from high school in three weeks. So because of the company that will come, I have a list of things to do around my house a mile long. This week I've been planting and painting. My bones hurt from all of the work!!

The other thing I've been very busy with is my career. I'm going back to work in the fall and couldn't be more excited! So can we say Woo Hoo!! I teach students with learning differences. In my new position, my day will be 1/2 time in 4th grade and 1/2 time in 5th grade. The people I'm going to work with seem amazing. I can't wait!!

This Woo Hoo Wednesday isn't about pretty pictures for me.
It's about celebrating the things that are happening in life right now.

Singing!!

Proud Parent Alert:
We will be packing up our younger son to go to Chicago in the Fall.

He has auditioned and been accepted as a Classical Performance/Music Education student.

Where do kids get the nerve to move from Oklahoma to Chicago?

We are very proud but sure will miss hearing all the singing he does around here.

More to come about this subject later. :)

Phototropism

Do you remember the word phototropism from biology? For some reason that word sticks in my head. It is a plants tendency to grow towards the light.

My amaryllis bulb grows taller each day and reaches for the sun. I try to spin it around every few days so the stem won't be too curved. Can't wait for it to bloom!

On another note, I am leaning away from my comfort zone for the next two weeks. I am working for a friend in a business office answering phones. Also, this weekend the 'singing son' and I are traveling to Winchester, VA for a college audition.

Be back soon!

p.s. Is it Spring yet?

Moving things around. Cleaning. Burning a yummy candle.

I just love it. :)

Silver Sunday

A little shiny silver to share with you in this New Year. This silver piece is part of a huge coffee and tea service that was given to me by my sweet Aunt Doris.

It is beautiful!

She loved to have company and serve others. She told me that she used her silver service when the garden club came to her home. I'd love to have you all over for coffee or tea...once the snow melts, of course. :)

Be sure to visit Beth at Gypsy Fish for a list of other Silver Sunday participants.

I'm Not Stressing

The Christmas holidays can be a little stressful...mostly because I am a perfectionist about some things. I always wish this weren't true but it is. I was just thinking of some ways that I could reduce our stress levels.

Here's what I've come up with:

-Snuggle with my husband in front of the Christmas tree.

-Watch Christmas Vacation again.

-Enjoy soft music and maybe go see Manheim Steamroller.

-Try not to eat too much but just the right amount of really good food.

-Make lists...check them twice....try not to lose them.

-Ring the Salvation Army bells with my Sunday School class.

-Hug my boys more than they want to be hugged.

-Enjoy the lights and decorations in our home and driving around.

-Call people and send cards.

Hmm...there's a few but I bet you can come up with more. What are your ideas to destress

Poofing a New Pillow :)

Isn't this pillow a beauty?

Penny had a give away to celebrate her very own birthday. I got lucky again. Thank you so much Penny. This cutie is right at home on our family room couch.
If you haven't visited Penny and her North Carolina home you must jump over there right now. You'll love it!

Happy December 1st

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm a little lax posting because we've been very busy. I won't lie and tell you that we are all decorated. What you see here is what we've done. :) That's ok...it will happen and we will enjoy the month.

Tonight's the night for us. We are putting the tree up and having a big bowl of hot soup. Guess what's for dessert...some of this fabulous hot chocolate that I won from Cathy at Mille Fleur. This is the best and most fattening hot chocolate ever! Worth it though.

Thank you very much Cathy for such a generous give away prize.

Doesn't it look yummy? I'll share. :)

The Sweetest Days

Do you know the song "The Sweetest Days" by Vanessa Williams? I remember hearing that song when my boys were little bitty and just being overwhelmed by it. I tried to have it playing for you here but it makes me cry.

These days I'm thinking of that song again.

This is Tanner. We just picked up Senior proofs today. He's going to graduate and go off somewhere...

This is Spencer. He studies really hard because he wants to go off again.

These Are The Sweetest Days!

Now pass me the Kleenex please.
