We're Having A Pony Party!

We're Having A...Pony Party!
When I was thinking about Ruby's birthday party I remembered the toy horse collection I had as a little girl. It's still coming together but I'm really excited about the little details.

Birthday Bib for the Cakey Mess
I wanted to make Ruby a birthday cake bib to keep her dress slightly less messy when she realizes how good her cake tastes. I made this from a vintage doily that an online friend recently sent. I used a bib on hand for the pattern and cut out two pieces of drop cloth from an old project for the front and back. I stitched the doily on the front piece and then stitched the front and back together. Then I added vintage lace around the top edge and the bottom edge. A black satin bow finished it off.

My parents and grandparents are coming into town today to help celebrate. We're having a small party tomorrow, a day early, and I plan on taking lots of cute photos!

If you haven't checked out my November sponsors you're missing out! I've got lots of new faces and some fabulous regulars for your browsing pleasure this weekend!

Beautifully Organized Space of the Week

This week's beautifully organized space is from the home of graphic artist Eva of Eva Juliet. She took a Alex storage drawer unit from Ikea and customized it with numbered knobs on each drawer for easier organization.

So beautifully simple and uncluttered :)

P.S. Loving that Passe A L'Action print in the photo? It's from her Etsy shop. Check it out and her other lovely items here.

It Was A Business Meeting, I Promise.

Red Velvet Sweet Shoppe Goodies
I went into the new Red Velvet shop yesterday afternoon strictly on business. I needed to take some helpful photos of my Felt Doll Fashion Board for an upcoming tutorial (um, hello Christmas present idea!), and needed to discuss the details of some cupcakes for Ruby's birthday celebration. I fully intended to take home at least one cupcake for Sebastian, the supreme lover of cupcakes at our household, but once I got to the counter I had to have one for each of us and a caramel apple just because I hadn't had a reputable one all season.

Red Velvet Sweet Shoppe Instax

I was powerless to the Salted Caramel Cupcake that should've appeared in this photo but never made it home. Emma makes the most moist (and I really don't enjoy that word 'moist') cupcakes I've ever indulged in and each one feels like a little party of it's own! The bubble tea is pretty exciting, too. Just ask my kids. In fact, here is a photo from my iPhone of Sebastian devouring the Snickerdoodle cupcake I picked out for him. He's always just been a frosting man so to eat the whole thing was kind of of telling. They're that good!

I may need to limit myself to one business meeting at the shop per month.

The Countdown to Her First Birthday

Vintage Caroline's Home dolls house
source

Ruby is going to turn one on November 7th! I've got some MAJOR house cleaning and party designing to do before then. We're keeping it small but I'm still going to make it special. I'm especially excited about one of her handmade presents, the fancy cupcakes we're ordering, and the doll house on it's way (not the one above, unfortunately)!

Until then I'm playing catch up on e-mails, blog posts, and work for my first e-course! I'm not sure life is going to slow down much for the next few weeks, either. Brett turned on The Innocence Mission after the kids went to bed and it just melted all of that tension away for awhile. If you haven't heard of them they are one of my favorite bands from our college years. We kind of fell in love to their music.

Wednesday is for conquering something. Anything. Do it.
