Happy Weekend!

Sorry for the absence Thursday and Friday. I was a busy busy bee and unfortunately didn't have much time for blogging. Anyways happy it's the weekend and have some leisurely moments now. I finally had a chance to sit down and enjoy the premiere issue of Rue this morning. As expected it was filled with stylish inspiration galore. My favorite home tour was Crystal's simple yet glamorous bachelorette pad.

Her home is a perfect example of the fact that you don't have to have tons of money to achieve a chic, beautifully put together decor. Several of her pieces were from Ikea and local thrift shops.

Print Magazines!

Two things:

1) The lovely Katie of The Neo-Traditionalist just reported that Lonny magazine is now available in print! She writes: "While in New York last month I had the opportunity to meet with Editor-In-Chief Michelle Adams (the girl is seriously too cute for words…) and see the hard copy. It is BEAUTIFUL! Each edition will run between $30 – $40, but at around 200 pages each they look closer to a keepsake design book than your average glossy. Lucky for us, the current issue will be available to order on Wednesday and the archives will be made available in the next few weeks." They will continue to look for cheaper alternatives and the online edition will continue to be free of course, but for anyone who loved a particular issue, it may be worth the splurge. (BTW did you know issues of Domino magazine go for up to $80 per issue on ebay?!)

2) Have you heard of Anthology? It's a new quarterly shelter and lifestyle print magazine that takes a narrative approach to its coverage of home décor, travel, design, entertaining, and culture. The first issue is available for preview online:

Since the magazine explores a theme and is written as a collection of stories, looks like something I could curl up with and take my time reading. I love the title of the premiere issue: The Slow Life. It's focused on the idea of taking it easy and taking pleasure in the simple things :)

Yearly subscriptions are $38 and single issues are $12.

New Issue of Lonny Magazine Out Today!

Have you checked out the new issue of Lonny magazine yet? I think it just keeps getting better. Hard to choose but I think my favorite feature this month is "A Difference in Opinion" (pg 166) which gives us a tour of two apartments with the exact same layout, decorated by sisters Antonia and Victoria Thompson who each have a distinctively different design aesthetic.

Premiering Today: Lonny Magazine

If you haven't already heard, there's a new design magazine around and its available for viewing in its full version online! I'm talking about Lonny magazine, which is edited by the very talented Michelle Adams of Rubie Green and Patrick Cline of Brand-Arts, and just premiered today.

In a time when shelter publications are turning their last pages Lonny magazine's mission is to reopen the doors of accessible design. They share the belief that good design and affordable design can coexist and that true inspiration can be found in the teeniest of homes or in the grandest of spaces.

I did a quick flip through (I'll be returning to read it thoroughly once I get an uninterrupted relaxed time) and am so far impressed with the multitude of inspirational interiors including the homes of Design Sponge creator Grace Bonney, former Domino editor Deborah Needleman, and my favorite, the beach house of former design publisher Kate Townsend-Simpson.
